Hunsur SSLC Training Targets 3,767 Students in 135-Day Push

Hunsur SSLC training will begin on November 11 for 3,767 students across government and aided schools, as the taluk education department seeks to improve its Class 10 examination performance after Hunsur ranked ninth in Mysuru district in the 2025-26 SSLC results.

The programme, named Kshana, has been designed as a 135-day learning intervention focused primarily on students who are behind in their studies. Officials said the programme will also support high-performing students while giving special attention to identifying learning gaps, rebuilding confidence and improving examination readiness.

Kshana was developed with the participation of state-level resource person Vasu, a teacher at the Government Primary School in Bettaduru of the Bilkere hobli. According to Vasu, the programme is based on identifying students’ learning abilities, understanding the reasons behind their difficulties and engaging with them through open conversations.

He said students would not be treated as incapable learners. The programme instead seeks to understand how family circumstances and the surrounding environment can affect their interest in studies. Teachers will be expected to identify when a student needs encouragement and create a classroom environment that reduces fear and supports confidence.

The training will include methods to help students answer the same question in different ways. Students will be grouped according to their learning abilities and guided through lessons suited to their needs. Officials said about 50% of the programme would focus on questions and preparation considered important for passing the SSLC examination.

The initiative will involve parents as well as teachers and students. Hunsur Block Education Officer Kalanayak said parents would be given guidance on creating a supportive learning environment at home. Discussions on learning-related issues will also be conducted through WhatsApp groups involving parents and students.

A Google Sheet has been prepared to record comprehensive information on every student and monitor learning improvement. Officials said the system would help teachers track student progress and identify areas requiring additional support during the programme.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction Udayakumar D. said taluk-level efforts were being organised across the district to improve Class 10 results. He said the department had also adopted a learning-assurance approach alongside the Kshana programme.

The education department said the initiative would bring parents, students and teachers together for the 135-day training period. Its stated objective is not only to improve the pass percentage but also to bring students who have fallen behind back into regular learning.

The name Kshana refers to the brief moment in which a teacher identifies a student’s need for motivation and attempts to draw the child back towards learning. Vasu said students who had fallen behind in reading and writing could also pass the examination through the initiative. The formal launch is scheduled for November 11, after which the 135-day training programme will be implemented across Hunsur taluk.
