Noida residents will be able to buy green crackers from more than 100 temporary shops at three designated locations on 7 and 8 November, with the sale restricted to licensed sellers and permitted only before sunset, according to the Noida Police Commissionerate.
The designated sales sites are the Ramlila grounds in Sector 62 and Sector 46 in the Noida zone, and the kabaddi ground near Garhi Gol Chakkar in Central Noida. Police said applications for setting up shops were continuing to come in, and preparations were under way for more than 100 outlets across the three locations.
Sellers will need temporary licences to operate. Applications must be supported by no-objection certificates from the Noida Authority and the fire department before the concerned deputy commissioners of police issue the temporary licences. In Greater Noida, no applications for licences had been received at the time of the report.
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Chaubey said no-objection certificates were being issued after applications were assessed against the prescribed standards. The licensing process places responsibility for site approval and fire-safety compliance on the relevant authorities before shops begin operating.
The police have said that only licensed traders will be allowed to sell green crackers at the designated locations. The storage, sale or transportation of crackers without a licence will invite action. Fire tenders will be deployed as required at major markets, malls, densely populated areas and the approved cracker-sale sites to respond to fire-related incidents.
The arrangements extend beyond the sale locations. The Government Institute of Medical Sciences in Kasna has reserved 50 beds for emergencies during the festival period. Doctors in the emergency ward and main wards have been placed on alert, while teams of 10 to 12 doctors are expected to be available during the morning and evening shifts. The emergency contact number provided in the report is 9643840096.
Police have also asked residents to report suspicious people or objects to the emergency helpline 112. The restrictions and enforcement measures are intended to keep cracker sales within approved locations and reduce risks linked to unauthorised storage, transport and retail activity.
The arrangements come as markets across Noida see increased demand for automobiles, jewellery, mobile phones and electronics. Traders are expecting business worth around Rs 2,000 crore over the five-day festive period covering Dhanteras, Diwali and Bhai Dooj, according to the report. Sector 18 markets, malls, shopping complexes and large shops in village areas have been reporting strong customer activity.
The temporary sales window will run on 7 and 8 November, with sales allowed only until sunset at the three approved locations. Authorities have not announced any licensed sales site in Greater Noida as of the report, where the licensing process had not yet received an application.
