Eastern Railway Cancels 30 Pairs of Suburban Trains for Bridge Construction

Eastern Railway passengers in the Howrah division will experience significant disruptions as 30 pairs of suburban trains are cancelled daily until February 1, 2025. The cancellations are necessary for the construction of a state-of-the-art bow string girder bridge to replace the old Benaras Road overbridge between Howrah and Liluah stations.

The cancellations affect the following train services:

  • 15 pairs of Howrah-Bandel-Howrah locals
  • 11 pairs of Howrah-Sheoraphuli-Howrah locals
  • Two pairs each of Howrah-Belur Math-Howrah and Howrah-Shrirampur-Howrah locals

Additionally, several express trains will experience delays of 20 minutes to an hour during the construction phase. Affected express trains include:

  • 12370 Dehradun-Howrah Kumbha Express
  • 12328 Dehradun-Howrah Upasana Express
  • 15272 Muzaffarpur-Howrah Jansadharan Express
  • 13030 Mokama-Howrah Express
  • Raxaul-Howrah Mithila Express

To accommodate the ongoing infrastructure upgrades and ensure operational safety, several passenger trains will be rescheduled or diverted. Commuters are advised to check for updates on train schedules to avoid inconvenience.
