A 28-year-old State Bank of India clerk, Mayank Jain, was killed in a Dewas road accident near Rasulpur bypass after an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle and another vehicle ran over him, according to a Times of India report. The crash occurred on Wednesday while Jain was travelling from Indore to Dewas to report to the bank’s regional office.
The report said Jain lost control of his motorcycle after it was struck by an unidentified vehicle near the bypass. He fell onto the road and was subsequently run over by another vehicle approaching from behind. He died at the spot.
Jain was originally from Khan Barodia and had been living with his wife in Singapore Township in Indore for the past two years. He travelled between Indore and Dewas every day for work, making the route part of his regular commute between the two cities.
The death illustrates the risks faced by workers who travel daily between Indore and Dewas, although the available report does not provide details about the road’s design, lighting, traffic volume or previous crashes at the location. It also does not identify whether the vehicles involved were commercial or private vehicles.
According to Jain’s relative Mukesh Jain, the first impact threw him onto the road before the second vehicle approached from behind. The account formed part of the initial information reported about the crash; the drivers involved had not been identified at the time of publication.
Industrial Area police registered a case of accidental death and conducted the post-mortem examination. The body was later handed over to Jain’s family. Police had not identified the drivers involved in the accident when the report was published.
Jain had married around two years ago. The investigation’s next reported step is to identify the vehicles and drivers involved in the collision and establish the sequence of events near Rasulpur bypass.
