Arun Kumar Gets IFSO Posting After Shahdara Police Clash

Delhi Police inspector Arun Kumar has been posted to the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) branch, days after he was transferred from the Shahdara station following a confrontation between police personnel and lawyers. The posting takes effect immediately under an order issued by Delhi Police headquarters on November 4.

Kumar, an executive inspector, was moved from the Security Unit to IFSO, the Delhi Police branch responsible for cybercrime operations, according to the official order reported by Millennium Post. The order marks the latest administrative change involving the officer after his removal from the Shahdara station.

Kumar was transferred from the post of Shahdara station house officer on October 28 along with Assistant Commissioner of Police Manasvi Vashistha. The transfers followed a confrontation between police personnel and lawyers over the handling of an assault case involving advocate Lalit Bansal.

The incident subsequently led to protests by police personnel outside Delhi Police headquarters on November 2. Around 150 personnel, including women officers, took part in the protest, seeking the reinstatement of Kumar and Vashistha.

The protesting personnel also demanded action against lawyers involved in the confrontation. They sought the registration of first information reports against individuals accused of violence against police personnel, according to the report.

Kumar’s latest posting moves him from the Security Unit to a specialised police branch dealing with cybercrime and strategic operations. The order does not indicate that he has been reinstated as Shahdara SHO. It also does not state any further administrative action concerning the confrontation or the demands raised during the police protest.

The sequence of transfers and the subsequent posting places the case within a wider administrative response involving station-level policing, senior supervisory officers and the Delhi Police headquarters. For residents, the immediate operational change is that Kumar will no longer lead the Shahdara police station and will instead serve in a specialised unit.

The posting follows a period of public disagreement between sections of the police force and the legal community over the handling of the assault case. The available report does not provide details of any inquiry, FIR registration or disciplinary proceedings arising from the confrontation. The November 4 order is the next confirmed administrative step identified in the matter.
