MPSC Probe List Excludes State Services Exam, Fueling Aspirant Questions

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced a list of nine examinations that will be examined by a five-member inquiry commission, but the State Services Main Examination 2025 has been left out, prompting questions from aspirants who had earlier raised objections over the evaluation of marks.

MPSC member secretary Tukaram Mundhe recently issued a public notice inviting affidavits, statements and available evidence from people connected with the listed examinations. Submissions can be made until 16 November. The notice was issued against the backdrop of allegations of irregularities in MPSC examinations, including claims related to question papers, answer keys and other aspects of the commission’s functioning.

The inquiry commission has been constituted under the chairmanship of former chief justice Dilip Bhosale. It has five members and has been given 60 days to submit its report. The commission’s mandate covers allegations of irregularities, cases involving alleged leaks of question papers and answer keys, and accusations made against the MPSC.

The nine examinations named in the notice are the Drug Inspector Examination; Maharashtra Group-B, 2025; Maharashtra Group-B Non-Gazetted Services Combined Preliminary Examination, 2025; Maharashtra Group-B Non-Gazetted Services Combined Main Examination, 2025; Maharashtra Group-C Services Combined Preliminary Examination, 2025; Maharashtra Group-C Services Main Examination, 2025; Maharashtra Agricultural Services Main Examination, 2024; Food and Drug Administration Services Main Examination, 2023; Maharashtra Civil Engineering Services Main Examination, 2025; and Maharashtra Electrical Engineering Services Main Examination, 2025.

Although the State Services Main Examination 2025 is not included, students had previously raised serious objections regarding the assessment of marks in that examination. Its exclusion from the inquiry list has therefore led aspirants to ask why the examination has been kept outside the scope of the investigation while other recent examinations are being examined.

The notice creates a formal channel for people linked to the nine listed examinations to submit material before the inquiry commission. The commission’s findings will be contained in the report it is required to submit within 60 days. The supplied report does not state whether the State Services Main Examination 2025 will be added to the inquiry at a later stage or whether the commission has issued a separate explanation for its exclusion.
