Ara Station Redevelopment Gets Fresh Push After ECR Safety Review

Ara station redevelopment received a fresh review from East Central Railway (ECR) general manager Dimpy Garg during an inspection of the Hajipur–Ara route via Patliputra Junction and Danapur. The inspection covered railway tracks, bridges, signalling systems, passenger facilities and development works under the Danapur division.

Garg conducted a window-trailing inspection on Tuesday to assess the condition of railway infrastructure and review the operational efficiency and safety of train services, ECR chief public relations officer Saraswati Chandra said. The route forms part of the railway network connecting key locations in Bihar, including Hajipur, Patliputra, Danapur and Ara.

According to Chandra, the ECR general manager examined the condition of tracks, bridges and signalling infrastructure along the route. The review was intended to assess whether these systems were supporting safe and efficient train operations, while also providing an overview of infrastructure work being undertaken in the Danapur division.

At Ara railway station, Garg reviewed redevelopment work being carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He directed officials to complete the project within the stipulated deadline and maintain quality during execution, the CPRO said. The inspection therefore covered both the physical progress of the station project and the standards expected during its implementation.

Garg also reviewed Ara station’s circulating area, ticket booking offices and other passenger facilities. Officials were asked to focus on passenger convenience, cleanliness and the availability of proper amenities. These areas are central to how passengers access the station, purchase tickets and move between the station premises and surrounding transport links.

The review comes as the railway system prepares for increased passenger demand during the festive period. ECR has introduced at least six festival special trains on the Ludhiana–Saharsa, Ludhiana–Darbhanga, Ludhiana–Purnia, Ludhiana–Gaya, Ludhiana–Kolkata and Sirhind–Saharsa routes, Chandra said. The services are intended to manage the festive rush across routes linking Bihar with Punjab, Haryana and other destinations.

The inspection brings together two immediate railway priorities: maintaining the safety of operating infrastructure and advancing station redevelopment. While the route review focused on tracks, bridges and signalling, the Ara station assessment examined redevelopment progress and the passenger-facing facilities that will shape daily use of the station.

ECR officials are expected to continue monitoring the Ara redevelopment project against its stipulated deadline, while the railway’s festival special services will operate on the announced routes to address seasonal demand.
