Pune Constable Arrested After Car Rams Police Commissioner’s Gate

A Pune constable was arrested after allegedly ramming his car into the main gate of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar’s official residence and attempting to drive into security personnel on duty, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Tuesday evening in the Cantonment area.

The accused, identified as 42-year-old constable Amol Bhise, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he drove towards the commissioner’s bungalow, according to the report. He was detained after security personnel tried to stop him from entering the premises.

Police booked Bhise for attempted murder. The report did not provide details of any injuries caused during the incident. Officials are continuing to investigate what prompted the constable to drive to the commissioner’s residence and allegedly force his way through the gate.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed the incident and said Bhise appeared to be in an inebriated and unstable state of mind. “He rammed into the gate and tried to enter the premises,” Kumar said.

The commissioner also said Bhise had been suspended in 2025 and reinstated in 2026. According to Kumar, the constable had a history of disciplinary issues and had allegedly been involved in several offences. Police are examining his previous disciplinary record as part of the investigation.

The episode has placed attention on internal police disciplinary procedures as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the constable’s suspension, reinstatement and alleged conduct at the commissioner’s residence. The inquiry will also establish the sequence of events, the extent of any damage and whether anyone was injured.

Police have not yet disclosed further details about the case, including the reason Bhise went to the residence or the next stage of the investigation.
