Maharashtra solar pumps will receive a major expansion under the state’s agricultural infrastructure programme after Oswal Pumps Ltd secured a repeat order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) for 10,000 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems. The order is valued at ₹235.92 crore, inclusive of GST.
The systems will be supplied and installed under the PM-KUSUM B Scheme and Maharashtra’s ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krishi Pump’ yojana. The order places MSEDCL at the centre of another large-scale deployment of solar-powered irrigation infrastructure in the state, while extending Oswal Pumps’ existing association with the distribution company.
Oswal Pumps disclosed the order in a media statement. The company described it as an additional order and said the repeat business reflected continued execution momentum in Maharashtra. The statement did not provide a project-wise distribution of the 10,000 pumps, an installation schedule or details of the districts and farmers that will receive the systems.
Vivek Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Oswal Pumps Ltd, said the order reaffirmed the confidence of the company’s institutional partners in its capabilities. He said the company remained committed to timely execution, product reliability and supporting the large-scale adoption of solar-powered irrigation solutions across the country.
The systems are designed as off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumps, meaning the order is focused on irrigation equipment powered through solar generation rather than conventional grid electricity. For Maharashtra’s agricultural infrastructure, such installations link energy access with water pumping at the farm level. The supplied material, however, does not specify the pumping capacity, technology configuration or operating arrangements for the systems.
The order also highlights the role of state electricity distribution companies in implementing renewable-energy-linked agricultural programmes. MSEDCL is the institutional buyer identified in the announcement, while Oswal Pumps will be responsible for supplying and installing the systems. The company said Maharashtra remained a key market and that the repeat order reinforced its long-standing association with MSEDCL.
The announcement comes as part of the continuing implementation of PM-KUSUM-linked solar irrigation initiatives in the state. The programme reference establishes the policy framework for the order, but the company’s statement did not disclose the total number of pumps already supplied by Oswal Pumps to Maharashtra, the cumulative value of its MSEDCL orders or the expected completion date for the latest deployment.
The next operational milestones will be the release of implementation details by the concerned authorities and the execution of supply and installation work for the 10,000 systems. Oswal Pumps said it would focus on timely execution and product reliability as it carries out the additional order.
