Telangana Launches Gravel Booking Portal to Track Transport in Hanumakonda

Telangana has launched a pilot gravel booking portal in Hanumakonda district, bringing applications, payments, transport permissions and QR-coded movement approvals onto a single digital platform for the construction material.

The Integrated Gravel Management System was launched on Monday at the Integrated District Collectorate Offices on the initiative of Hanumakonda district collector Chahat Bajpai. The portal has been developed in coordination with the Centre for Good Governance.

According to Bajpai, applicants must register using a mobile number, one-time password, MPIN and Aadhaar identification. New applicants are then required to enter the relevant survey number and the quantity of gravel needed before completing payment through the portal’s payment gateway.

Once the application is processed, the office superintendent will finalise the transportation permission and issue a QR code. The code will specify the permitted quantity, source of the gravel, approved destination and the period during which transportation is authorised.

The digital approval process places material details and movement conditions in one record, allowing applicants and officials to work through a defined eight-step procedure. The system is intended to make gravel permissions accessible online while giving district authorities a structured way to record approved extraction and transport details.

Bajpai clarified that the pilot portal is exclusively for gravel permissions and does not cover sand. A separate portal is already operational in Telangana for permissions related to sand. No permission for sand excavation or transportation will be issued through the new Hanumakonda district system.

The launch links a routine construction-material requirement with district-level regulatory administration. Gravel is used across construction and infrastructure activity, making the process for obtaining permission and moving approved quantities relevant to applicants, transporters and officials. The QR-coded approval is also designed to identify the source, destination, quantity and validity period attached to each authorised movement.

Bajpai directed officials to create public awareness about the new facility and asked for cooperation to ensure that people requiring gravel can access and use the portal. The district administration’s next step is to publicise the online process and support applicants as the pilot system is rolled out.
