IRC Summit Hyderabad to Showcase Telangana’s Infrastructure Push

The 85th Indian Roads Congress summit will be held at HITEX in Hyderabad from November 19 to 22, with Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy scheduled to inaugurate the event, roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said on Monday.

The summit is expected to bring together engineers, Union ministers and other dignitaries from across the country. The announcement places Hyderabad at the centre of a national gathering focused on road infrastructure and provides Telangana with a platform to present its ongoing infrastructure projects and investment opportunities.

Venkat Reddy reviewed preparations for the event at a meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat. He directed officials to establish a dedicated Telangana Pavilion and 400 exhibition stalls at the venue. The pavilion and stalls will showcase the state’s cultural heritage, infrastructure achievements and investment potential.

The minister also suggested promotional campaigns at airports and metro stations in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru to publicise the summit and Telangana’s development. The proposed outreach indicates that the state intends to use the event not only as a technical gathering but also as a platform to attract attention from investors and central institutions.

According to the minister, the gathering could help Telangana attract investments and secure central funding for road and rail infrastructure projects. The report did not specify the projects for which funding would be sought, the amount being targeted or any commitments made by the Union government ahead of the summit.

The meeting also covered the progress of ongoing roads and buildings projects in the state. Venkat Reddy directed officials to complete the works within their deadlines without compromising on quality. The instructions extend the focus of the review beyond the four-day congress to the delivery of projects already under construction.

Among the projects discussed were the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences hospital at Alwal and the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital. The minister instructed officials to expedite construction and ensure that both facilities become operational by the end of the year. The review also included the Osmania General Hospital project, the expansion of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and the new High Court complex, although no revised completion dates or progress figures were provided for these works.

The event will therefore combine a national roads and infrastructure conference with Telangana’s effort to present its development programme. Its immediate logistical priorities include completing the Telangana Pavilion, preparing the 400 exhibition stalls and promoting the summit in three major cities before the November 19 inauguration.
