The commercial LPG cylinder price in Tamil Nadu has increased by ₹11.50 this month, while the price of a domestic cooking gas cylinder remains unchanged at ₹957.50, according to a report by Dinamalar. The price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder has been revised from ₹2,983 to ₹2,994.50.
The revision applies to commercial cooking gas cylinders supplied by Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum. These public-sector oil companies sell 14.20-kg cylinders for household use and 19-kg cylinders for commercial applications, including kitchens and businesses that require cooking gas.
Dinamalar reported that the latest change was made as part of the monthly revision undertaken by the oil marketing companies. The companies alter cooking gas cylinder prices in the domestic market on the first day of each month, based on international crude oil prices, the report said.
For household consumers in Tamil Nadu, the 14.20-kg cooking gas cylinder continues to be priced at ₹957.50 this month. The report also stated that, after a household cylinder is purchased at this price, the central government subsidy amount is credited to the customer’s bank account by the oil companies.
The commercial cylinder price is not covered by the household price figure cited in the report. Its increase takes the Tamil Nadu rate above the rates reported for the other states listed by Dinamalar. The price of a commercial cylinder was reported at ₹2,775 in Maharashtra, ₹2,820 in Delhi and ₹2,971 in West Bengal.
The two categories of cylinders therefore continue to be subject to separate pricing in Tamil Nadu. While the household cylinder rate has remained unchanged in the latest monthly revision, the 19-kg commercial cylinder has recorded an increase of ₹11.50. The revised commercial price is ₹2,994.50, according to the report.
