Pune Weather: IMD Warns of 36°C Heat After Brief Rain Relief

Pune weather is set to turn warmer after brief rain brought limited relief to parts of the city, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting a maximum temperature of 36°C in Shivajinagar and several other areas from November 3. The rise is expected after the impact of Cyclone Arnab, according to an IMD expert quoted by The Indian Express.

Pashan recorded 6.8 mm of rain on Friday, while Magarpatta received 6 mm. The IMD has forecast similar conditions for Saturday, with skies expected to remain mainly clear before turning cloudy towards the afternoon or evening. Light rain or thundershowers are expected in Pune’s Ghats.

The chance of rain is expected to disappear from November 1, although cloudy skies may continue across the city. The showers have not significantly reduced the prevailing warmth. The maximum temperature at the Shivajinagar observatory was 33.5°C on Friday, still 2°C above normal despite falling from 34.3°C on Thursday.

Shivajinagar was the warmest among the reported locations, while Magarpatta and Pashan recorded maximum temperatures of about 32.8°C. The IMD expects the maximum temperature in Shivajinagar to reach 35°C on November 1 and 36°C from November 3.

A similar rise is forecast in Magarpatta, Koregaon Park and Lohegaon, where the maximum temperature is also expected to touch 36°C. Pashan, Chinchwad, Lavale and NDA are likely to remain slightly cooler, with temperatures reaching around 35°C over the next few days.

Morning temperatures have also risen steadily at Shivajinagar. The minimum temperature increased from 14.9°C on October 28 to 19°C on October 29 and 21.9°C on October 30. Magarpatta and Chinchwad were warmer on Friday morning, with temperatures crossing 24°C. Pashan recorded a minimum of 22.1°C, while NDA was among the cooler locations at 19.6°C.

The IMD forecast indicates that morning temperatures will reach 20°C in Shivajinagar, 21°C in Pashan and NDA, 22°C in Lohegaon and Koregaon Park, and 23°C in Chinchwad and Magarpatta on October 31. Similar conditions are expected on November 1, after which minimum temperatures are forecast to fall by one or two degrees across the city.
