Pune Airport Tops India in Passenger Satisfaction With 4.98 Rating

Pune Airport has ranked first among 16 participating Indian airports for passenger facilities and service quality, scoring 4.98 out of 5 in the July-September Airport Service Quality survey conducted by Airports Authority of India and Airports Council International-Airport Service Quality.

The result places Pune Airport in the ‘Best Airport by Size’ category, which includes 16 airports in India. The survey is based on direct passenger feedback and assesses the quality of services and facilities available across airport terminals.

According to the report, the assessment covers 31 criteria, including the condition of restrooms, terminal cleanliness, waiting time at check-in and security counters, staff interaction with passengers and the quality of food outlets. The survey also includes airports from across the country and forms part of a wider international assessment involving about 500 airports globally.

Pune’s score of 4.98 was the highest among the Indian airports listed in the report. Chennai and Patna followed with scores of 4.94 each, while Calicut and Varanasi recorded 4.93. Goa scored 4.92, followed by Bhubaneswar at 4.91. Kolkata and Raipur received 4.90 each, while Indore also recorded 4.90.

The survey is conducted with the participation of the Airports Authority of India and uses passenger responses to identify service-quality outcomes. The assessment is intended to measure the experience of passengers at different points of their airport journey, from entering the terminal and completing check-in to security screening and using terminal facilities.

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol described Pune Airport’s first position in passenger services as a matter of pride for residents. He attributed the result to the administration’s efforts to improve passenger convenience and said the government was committed to expanding Pune’s air connectivity and providing better facilities in the coming period.

Aviation expert Dhairyashil Wandekar said Pune Airport’s performance in passenger facilities was notable. He said its performance in the third quarter was better than in the second quarter and described the result as recognition of the quality of passenger experience, cleanliness, security and staff service.

The ranking comes as Pune Airport continues to serve as a key air transport facility for the city and surrounding urban region. The survey report, however, records service-quality perceptions during the July-September period and does not provide details in the supplied material on passenger volumes, the airport’s capacity utilisation or the specific operational changes associated with the score. The next survey period will indicate whether the rating is sustained.
