The Delhi Police has deployed plainclothes personnel around singer Diljit Dosanjh and strengthened security at his hotel ahead of his concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday, while the Delhi Traffic Police has announced diversions and urged concertgoers to use the Delhi Metro because parking will not be available at the venue.
Police officials said plainclothes personnel would work alongside Dosanjh’s own security team and private security staff engaged for the event. Security arrangements have also been made at the hotel where the singer is staying. Organisers have been instructed not to disclose details of his accommodation, vehicle specifications or exact arrival time.
The singer has been advised to leave the stadium promptly after the performance because of the large gathering expected around the venue. Police are monitoring social media platforms and inputs from their intelligence wing to assess the threat perception and respond to any emerging concerns, officials said.
The concert is expected to begin between 7.30 pm and 8 pm and end at 10 pm. Traffic restrictions and diversions will remain in force from 1 pm to midnight around JLN Stadium and adjoining roads. The affected stretches include Bhisham Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Archbishop Makarios Marg, 4th Avenue Road, 5th Avenue Road, internal roads of the CGO Complex, roads around the stadium, the Barapullah Flyover between INA and Jangpura Metro Station Gate No. 2, Dayal Singh College Road and internal roads in Lodhi Colony.
Traffic will continue on Lodhi Road between the Lodhi Flyover signal and Aurobindo Marg, but vehicles will not be allowed to use Dayal Singh College Road at the designated diversion point. Traffic at the Lala Lajpat Rai Marg-JLN Marg junction will be diverted towards Lodhi Flyover. Vehicles approaching Sookhna Bhawan from the slip road of Lala Lajpat Rai Marg will also be redirected towards the flyover.
At Bhisham Pitamah Marg near the JLN Stadium signal, vehicles heading towards Stadium Gate No. 1 and Kotla Mubarakpur Flyover will be stopped and required to take a U-turn towards Mehar Chand Market and Lodhi Colony. At Kushak Nallah Bus Depot signal, traffic heading towards Gates 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will be restricted. Vehicles will be diverted towards 4th Avenue Road for Lodhi Road or towards INA for Aurobindo Marg. Additional diversion points may be activated at Kotla Mubarakpur signal and the Bhisham Pitamah Marg-Lodhi Road T-point if required.
Dosanjh has also asked fans through a video message on Instagram to use the Delhi Metro, saying parking would not be available at the venue and that Metro services would operate until around midnight. Passengers using the Violet Line can get off at JLN Stadium or Jangpura stations and walk to Gates 13, 14 and 17. Yellow Line passengers can use INA or Jor Bagh stations and take a vehicle to Kushak Nallah Bus Depot signal, near Gates 3, 6 and 8.
Parking for the general public will not be available at or around the stadium. Limited parking for special invitees has been designated at Sunehri Pula Bus Depot and Dayal Singh College. Taxi, three-wheeler and cab operators have been directed to use designated pick-up and drop-off points at Archbishop Makarios Marg, Lal Masjid in Pragati Vihar and Kushak Nallah Bus Depot signal, rather than stopping along the roadside.
