Hyderabad One-Way Loop Targets Hi-Tech City Traffic Gridlocks

Cyberabad Traffic Police is preparing a one-way loop system linking key junctions in Hyderabad’s Hi-Tech City and Biodiversity areas, with the proposed corridor intended to reduce recurring morning and evening traffic gridlocks. The plan is being developed with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and will be tested through traffic simulations before any phased rollout.

The proposed loop would begin at Biodiversity Junction and pass through IKEA Rotary, Raheja Mindspace’s C-Gate, Knowledge City and Dallas Center. It would then take a right turn at My Home Bhooja before reconnecting with Biodiversity Junction. The proposed route is designed to use the full width of the carriageways and reduce delays at four junctions identified as frequent bottlenecks.

The plan remains under formulation and has not yet been implemented. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr M. Ramesh, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh, senior traffic police officers and SCSC CEO Naveed Khan, along with other team members, conducted an on-ground walkthrough of the proposed route to assess existing road infrastructure and junction-level constraints.

The feasibility exercise will next include detailed traffic simulation trials. According to the report, the simulations will examine vehicle speeds and traffic density along the proposed corridor. The results are expected to inform the final execution plan and determine how the system could operate across the connected junctions.

The police and SCSC also plan to hold coordination meetings with IT companies, business establishments and other local stakeholders. These consultations are intended to gather feedback before the system is introduced. The Hi-Tech City and Biodiversity stretches serve major commercial and employment centres, making traffic movement in the area particularly important for daily commuters and businesses located along the corridor.

Ramesh said the one-way loop would be rolled out in phases only after stakeholder suggestions were considered and the execution plan finalised. He also said comprehensive traffic advisories and official information on route diversions would be issued in advance to commuters. The authorities have not yet announced a final implementation date, the precise diversion arrangements or the operational timings for the proposed loop.
