Future City Traffic DCP Shivam Upadhyaya has inspected 11 accident-prone locations and black spots along National Highway-765 in southern Hyderabad, as multiple government departments coordinate road-safety measures and enforcement to prevent fatal crashes.
The inspection covered stretches across Maheshwaram, Kandukur, Kadthal and Amangal police station limits. Traffic Police, Law and Order Police, National Highways officials, the Transport Department and municipal authorities jointly examined conditions that may be contributing to accidents and fatalities.
The locations visited included Thummalur Gate, Rachulur Gate, Peddamma Temple, Kandukur Crossroads, Kothur Crossroads, Navaru Balreddy Garden, MRR Restaurant, Nedunur Gate and Debbadaguda Gate under Maheshwaram Traffic Police Station limits. Mucherla Gate was inspected under Kadthal police station limits, while the Cotton Mill area was covered under Amangal police station limits.
During the inspection, the DCP and other officials discussed possible preventive measures and highway-safety improvements with National Highways authorities. The exercise was intended to identify risks at the inspected points and improve coordination between agencies responsible for policing, road management, transport enforcement and municipal administration.
The drive also included enforcement action involving wine shops located along both sides of NH-765. Officials issued notices directing the owners to maintain a distance of 500 metres from the highway. They warned that violations and illegal activities would attract legal action under applicable laws.
The notice action places roadside commercial activity within the wider road-safety response. The source report does not specify the number of shops served, the statutory provision being applied or a deadline for compliance. It also does not detail the physical hazards identified at each black spot, such as road design deficiencies, inadequate lighting, unsafe access points or speed-related risks.
The inspection was attended by traffic and law-and-order police personnel, station house officers, a Motor Vehicle Inspector, National Highways officials, a deputy engineer and the Amangal municipal commissioner. Their participation indicates that the response will require action across agencies rather than traffic enforcement alone.
Future City Traffic Police said coordinated inspections and preventive measures would continue as authorities work to improve highway safety and reduce road accidents and fatalities along NH-765. The next steps will depend on the safety measures identified jointly by the participating departments and National Highways authorities.
