Uttar Pradesh tourism minister Jaiveer Singh has directed officials and executing agencies to submit 251 pending project estimates by October 31, after a review found that nearly half of the 511 estimates under the state’s 2026-27 tourism action plan were still awaited.
The review covered museum development, visitor amenities, tourism properties and destination infrastructure across the state. Officials said the programme includes 22 projects under the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad, while 616 tourism projects have already been handed over by executing agencies.
Singh also directed officials to install heritage inscriptions at every completed project site. The inscriptions are intended to explain the historical legacy, religious significance and local traditions associated with each destination. QR codes are being developed for these plaques, with links to content approved by district authorities.
The review included museum projects in Jhansi, Firozabad, Varanasi, Deoria, Bijnor and Sultanpur. In Barabanki, the memorial and museum at the ancestral home of hockey legend KD Singh Babu is targeted for completion in December 2026, according to officials who attended the meeting.
In Lucknow, the Rs 14.99-crore development of the folk art museum includes additional galleries, a children’s activity zone, workshop spaces, landscaping and folk installations. The additions are intended to expand the museum’s visitor facilities and provide more space for public engagement with folk art and cultural displays.
The meeting also reviewed the operation of tourism properties and recent agreements for visitor facilities. At Kapilvastu in Siddharthnagar, an agreement was executed on October 27 for operating cottages, a dormitory and tourism information facilities. A separate operating agreement was executed for the Maharaja Suheldev memorial in Bahraich.
Officials further reviewed proposed Parampara centres in Lucknow, Sitapur, Bareilly, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj and Varanasi. The centres are part of the state’s effort to develop spaces focused on cultural traditions and local heritage, although the supplied report does not specify their completion timelines or funding details.
Preparations for Ayodhya’s Deepotsav and Varanasi’s Dev Deepawali were also discussed. The arrangements include Ramlila presentations and folk performances. The tourism department’s next immediate milestone is the October 31 deadline for submitting the remaining project estimates, after which the status of the pending works will determine how quickly the planned museums, amenities and heritage facilities can move towards execution.
