Traffic police in Telangana’s Future City Police Commissionerate inspected 11 accident-prone locations and black spots along National Highway-765 on Tuesday, identifying road-safety risks and directing coordinated preventive action across Maheshwaram, Kandukur, Kadthal and Amangal.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Shivam Upadhyaya led the inspection with officials from the Traffic Police, Law and Order Police, National Highways, Transport Department and Municipal Administration. The joint exercise covered locations falling within the limits of the Maheshwaram, Kandukur, Kadthal and Amangal police stations.
The locations inspected included Thummalur Gate, Rachulur Gate, Peddamma Temple, Kandukur X Road, Kothur X Road, Navaru Balreddy Garden, MRR Restaurant, Nedunur Gate and Debbadaguda Gate. Mucherla Gate and the Cotton Mill area were also covered under the Kadthal and Amangal police station limits respectively.
Officials examined the sites to identify factors contributing to road accidents and fatalities. The DCP discussed preventive measures and road-safety improvements with NH-765 authorities, stressing that action would require coordination between the highway agency, police, transport officials and local administration.
The inspection also resulted in notices being issued to wine-shop owners operating on both sides of NH-765. The establishments were instructed to maintain a distance of 500 metres from the National Highway and were cautioned that violations and illegal activities could attract legal action under applicable laws.
The exercise brought together police officers, a Motor Vehicle Inspector, a regional officer, an NH-765 deputy engineer and the municipal commissioner of Amangal. The participating officials included officers from the Maheshwaram and Amangal traffic police stations, the Kandukur and Kadthal police stations, and the Maheshwaram Law and Order Police Station.
Upadhyaya said the identification of accident risks, implementation of preventive measures and stronger coordination among departments were necessary to reduce accidents and fatalities. The Future City Traffic Police said it would continue coordinated inspections and preventive action at accident-prone locations along the highway.
