TARIL Unveils ₹1,250-Crore Gujarat Expansion With 1,000 Jobs

Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd (TARIL) will invest ₹1,250 crore to build three greenfield manufacturing plants in Gujarat, with the facilities expected to support high-voltage power infrastructure and create more than 1,000 direct jobs once fully operational.

The company said in an exchange filing that the plants will be developed at its Chiyada complex under a wholly owned consolidated ancillary subsidiary. The facilities will manufacture high-voltage components, including bushings, oil-impregnated paper, resin-impregnated paper and resin-impregnated fibre products rated up to 800 kV.

The plants will also produce pressboard and insulation materials, along with continuously transposed conductors, or CTC. These products are used in the manufacture of high-voltage transformers, which form a critical part of electricity transmission and distribution networks.

Construction of the facilities began in December 2025, according to TARIL. Commercial operations are expected to start in the first quarter of financial year 2027-28. The company said the plants could generate annual revenue potential of approximately ₹2,000 crore once they are fully operational.

The investment comes as India expands its power infrastructure to meet rising electricity demand, integrate renewable energy into the grid and modernise transmission networks, TARIL said. The company’s filing linked the Gujarat expansion to these wider requirements but did not provide a project-wise breakdown of the ₹1,250-crore investment or specify the individual production capacity of the three plants.

By placing the facilities under a wholly owned ancillary subsidiary, TARIL said it would retain control over manufacturing quality, technology, procurement and long-term strategic direction. The structure is intended to bring the production of several components used in high-voltage transformer manufacturing within the company’s consolidated operations.

The planned employment will span engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality assurance and research and development, the company said. TARIL did not provide a detailed timeline for recruitment or identify the number of jobs expected at each plant.

The expansion reflects the importance of component supply in the delivery of larger power infrastructure projects. Transformer manufacturing depends on specialised inputs such as insulation systems, conductors and bushings, and the new plants will bring several of these product lines into a single company-controlled manufacturing network.

TARIL’s filing did not state whether the facilities would serve only the domestic market or include export production. It also did not disclose the expected commissioning sequence for the three plants. The company has set the first quarter of FY28 as the anticipated start of commercial operations for the overall expansion.
