Heavy rainfall in Telangana is expected to intensify across the state on October 28, with Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam forecast to receive 100–120 mm of rain and gusty winds of up to 60 kmph, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
The weather system is linked to Cyclone Arnab, which is expected to cross the central Andhra Pradesh coast on Wednesday morning. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in some districts on the night of October 27 and during October 28, with the heaviest conditions concentrated in eastern Telangana.
Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam are expected to record heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by winds reaching 50–60 kmph. The forecast places these districts at the centre of the immediate weather risk, with intense rain potentially affecting road movement, local connectivity and routine public services.
Warangal and Karimnagar are likely to receive moderate rainfall of up to 30 mm, while winds in these areas may reach 40 kmph. The forecast indicates a wider but less intense impact across central parts of the state.
Several districts, including Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Narayanpet, are expected to receive light rainfall of less than 15 mm. Jogulamba Gadwal, Hyderabad, Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar are also likely to see light rain, with winds reaching up to 35 kmph.
For Hyderabad and the surrounding urban region, the forecast points to lighter rainfall than in eastern Telangana, but the expected wind activity and the possibility of further rain remain relevant for commuters, road users and civic services. The report does not provide details of any specific traffic restrictions, school closures, evacuation measures or municipal advisories.
Rainfall activity is expected to ease across Telangana on October 29, according to the report. However, conditions are likely to become wetter again after October 30, including in Hyderabad, suggesting that the immediate reduction in rainfall may not mark the end of the weather system’s influence over the state.
The forecast makes the timing of local preparations important for districts expected to receive the highest rainfall. Residents and public agencies will need to track further official weather updates as the system approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast and conditions develop across Telangana.
