Meghalaya Final Electoral Rolls Add 14,720 Voters, Women Lead

Meghalaya’s final electoral rolls published after the Special Intensive Revision process list 21,83,963 electors, with women outnumbering men and a net increase of 14,720 voters from the draft rolls.

The final rolls include 11,24,216 female electors, 10,59,743 male electors and four electors registered under the third-gender category, according to information reported by the Times of India. The total electorate is around 0.68% higher than the figure in the draft rolls.

The final electoral rolls record a gender ratio of 1,061 and an elector-population ratio of 606. The publication of the rolls marks the completion of the Special Intensive Revision exercise and gives eligible residents an opportunity to check whether their names and personal details have been correctly recorded.

Meghalaya chief electoral officer BDR Tiwari advised electors to verify their entries through the Election Commission’s Voters’ Services Portal and the Meghalaya CEO’s website. Digital copies of the final rolls can also be downloaded from the state election website.

The verification process is particularly relevant for residents whose names may have changed, been omitted or been recorded with incorrect details during the revision exercise. Citizens whose names are missing from the final rolls can apply for inclusion using Form 6, along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents wherever applicable.

The Election Commission’s procedures also provide separate routes for other electoral-roll changes. Applications for deletion can be made through Form 7, while Form 8 is available for corrections or shifting of electoral particulars, the chief electoral officer said.

A special enrolment drive will be held across Meghalaya following the publication of the final rolls. Special enrolment camps will be organised in all 12 districts, with assistance planned for eligible citizens whose names appeared in the pre-SIR rolls but were not included in the final version.

The camps will also support people who have not yet enrolled, first-time and young electors who have reached the qualifying age, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable electors requiring assistance. The district-level camps are intended to provide an in-person channel alongside the online services available through the election authorities.

The final rolls therefore combine a statewide voter database with a post-publication correction and enrolment process. Residents can use the online portals to verify their entries, while those requiring help with inclusion, deletion, correction or shifting of particulars can submit the relevant forms through the prescribed channels. The special enrolment camps in all 12 districts are the next official step in the process.
