Telangana Seeks Korean Investment in EVs, Tourism and Technology

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has invited South Korean companies to invest in the state’s electric vehicle, electronics, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, renewable energy, tourism and emerging technology sectors, saying the government is prioritising jobs, technology transfer and skill development for young people.

Bhatti made the invitation at the K-Harmony Festa – Korea Culture Day 2026 at Shilpakala Vedika. He said Telangana offered opportunities for collaboration with Korean companies and that the state government would work to strengthen economic ties between Telangana and South Korea.

The deputy chief minister linked the latest outreach to investment discussions held during Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s visit to South Korea in August 2024. According to Bhatti, those discussions laid the foundation for greater economic cooperation between the two regions. He said the government wanted to expand investments and employment opportunities through a stronger partnership.

The sectors highlighted by the minister span both industrial production and newer technology-led activities. They include electronics, electric vehicles, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, renewable energy and emerging technologies. Bhatti also called for greater cooperation among industries, universities, research institutions, startups and small enterprises.

He said Telangana had much to learn from South Korea’s economic development, pointing to the role of sustained investment in education, skill development, infrastructure and technology. The emphasis on technology transfer and youth skills places the proposed partnership beyond capital investment alone, although the speech did not identify specific companies, project values or timelines for new investments.

Tourism was another focus of the invitation. Bhatti said Telangana’s Tourism Policy 2025–2030 aims to attract investments worth ₹15,000 crore and create three lakh additional jobs over five years. He invited Korean companies to participate in tourism infrastructure, hospitality, film tourism, wellness tourism and cultural experiences across the state.

The minister also encouraged Korean tourists to visit Telangana and said young people from both regions should explore opportunities in education, research, employment and creative industries. He referred to Hyderabad’s history as a meeting point of diverse cultures and highlighted Buddhavanam near Nagarjuna Sagar as a Buddhist heritage destination that could strengthen cultural links between India and East Asia.

The event, which showcased Korean culture, arts, music and traditions, was presented as part of efforts to deepen ties between India and South Korea. Bhatti said cultural exchange could support international recognition and complement cooperation in investment, education, research and tourism. The next stage will depend on whether the broad areas identified at the event result in formal company commitments, projects and implementation agreements.
