The Pune Police Economic Offences Wing has issued a notice to MP Parth Pawar in connection with the investigation into a disputed 40-acre land transaction in Mundhwa, according to Civic Mirror – Pune. Investigators are preparing to record his statement to establish whether he had any role in the transaction involving Amedea Enterprises and how much information he had about the deal.
The investigation centres on the sale of 40 acres in Mundhwa to Amedea Enterprises. The transaction has come under scrutiny over alleged irregularities in the transfer of the land and claims that approximately Rs 21 crore in stamp duty was not paid. The EOW is also examining alleged irregularities in government orders and the document-registration process connected with the transaction.
According to the report, investigators are expected to question Pawar about his alleged links with the company involved in the transaction and his communication with individuals including Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani and Digvijay Amarsingh Patil. The inquiry is expected to examine what he knew about the transaction, the nature of his relationships with the people involved and the circumstances in which the land was transferred.
The land sale process was carried out through Sheetal Tejwani, who reportedly held powers of attorney on behalf of 272 landholders. Digvijay Patil has been identified as a partner in Amedea Enterprises. The EOW is examining the relationships among the people connected with the transaction and the role played by each person.
The alleged stamp-duty shortfall is a central issue in the investigation. Stamp duty is a state revenue charge linked to property transactions, and the registration process provides the formal administrative record for the transfer of land. Any dispute over the valuation, documentation or payment connected with a large land transaction can therefore involve both the parties to the deal and the officials responsible for processing it.
The case also includes allegations against suspended officials. Suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yevale has been accused of issuing improper orders connected with the land transaction. Suspended sub-registrar Ravindra Balkrishna Taru faces allegations relating to irregularities in document registration and stamp-duty matters, according to the report.
The EOW has already filed a chargesheet against Tejwani and Patil in the case. The investigation is continuing to establish the sequence of events, examine the role of the officials involved and determine whether other people participated in or had knowledge of the transaction.
The notice to Pawar marks the next reported step in the inquiry into a high-profile land deal in Pune. The immediate procedural milestone is the recording of his statement, after which investigators will continue assessing the transaction, the alleged revenue loss and the involvement of the people named in the case.
