Lumax Plans ₹150 Crore Manesar Plant as Auto Electronics Surge

Lumax Auto Technologies will invest ₹150 crore in a new mechatronics plant at Manesar, Haryana, as the automotive component maker expands into electronic systems for vehicle manufacturers. The facility is planned to produce components including body control modules, which manage electrical functions in vehicles, and is expected to generate ₹500 crore in annual turnover at peak capacity.

The investment was disclosed in the company’s October 24 regulatory filing, alongside its results for the July–September 2026 quarter. Lumax said the plant will be funded through a combination of debt and internal accruals and commissioned in two phases beginning in the third quarter of FY28.

The Manesar facility will expand Lumax’s automotive electronics business at a time when vehicles are carrying a greater number of electronic functions. Body control modules are used to manage systems such as lighting, access and other vehicle electrical operations. The company has not disclosed the expected returns from the plant or when it expects the facility to reach peak turnover.

At the projected peak turnover of ₹500 crore a year, the new facility’s revenue would equal about 10.3 per cent of Lumax Auto Technologies’ consolidated revenue of ₹4,870.33 crore in FY26. The eventual contribution to profit will depend on customer orders, capacity utilisation and financing costs, according to the information accompanying the filing.

The expansion comes after a strong quarter for the company. Consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders rose 57.8 per cent to ₹105.51 crore in July–September 2026 from ₹66.85 crore in the corresponding period of 2025. Revenue from operations increased 34.5 per cent to ₹1,555.51 crore from ₹1,156.36 crore.

Consolidated profit before tax rose 47.8 per cent to ₹154.24 crore, lifting the pre-tax margin from 9.02 per cent to 9.92 per cent. Material costs, however, increased 43.2 per cent to ₹940.40 crore, faster than revenue growth. Employee expenses rose 27 per cent to ₹191.39 crore, while finance costs edged down to ₹24.24 crore from ₹24.49 crore.

For the first half of FY27, consolidated profit attributable to shareholders increased 77.5 per cent to ₹192.15 crore, while revenue rose 33.7 per cent to ₹2,919.12 crore. Profit before tax for the April–September period increased 60.3 per cent to ₹286.29 crore.

Lumax’s standalone net profit rose 45.7 per cent to ₹89 crore in the quarter, while standalone revenue increased 38 per cent to ₹1,204.70 crore. The company’s next stated milestones for the Manesar project are the phased commissioning of the facility from the third quarter of FY28 and the subsequent ramp-up of production and customer-linked capacity.
