Delhi Metro Blue Line Faces Early Sunday Disruption for Maintenance

Delhi Metro Blue Line services will operate on a single line between Yamuna Bank and Indraprastha stations until 6:30 am on Sunday because of scheduled track maintenance, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said.

The temporary arrangement will apply in both directions between the two stations. Trains will continue to run through the affected section, but services may take longer than usual while both directions share a single track.

The maintenance work is scheduled on the corridor between Yamuna Bank and Indraprastha. According to information shared by the DMRC, the restriction will remain in place during the initial part of Sunday morning operations and is expected to end by 6:30 am.

The Blue Line connects Dwarka Sector 21 with Noida Electronic City and Vaishali, passing through several important interchange and employment zones in Delhi and the National Capital Region. Yamuna Bank is a key station on the line, with services branching towards Noida Electronic City and Vaishali, while Indraprastha serves a central Delhi area that includes government offices and major public institutions.

The scheduled work means commuters travelling through the Yamuna Bank–Indraprastha section during the early morning period may experience slower movement or longer waiting times. The source information does not indicate a full closure of either station or the entire Blue Line. It states that trains will operate on a single line between the two stations until the maintenance activity is completed.

The DMRC has said that normal operations across the affected section will resume after the work is completed at 6:30 am. Services on the rest of the Blue Line are expected to follow the regular timetable, according to the information shared by the corporation.

Temporary single-line operations are used during maintenance to allow work on one track while trains continue to run on the other. In this case, the arrangement is limited to the Yamuna Bank–Indraprastha stretch and the early morning period, when the network generally begins daily operations.

The restriction highlights the operational balancing required on a high-use metro corridor: regular maintenance must be carried out without suspending services across the line. For commuters, the practical impact will depend on train frequency and the time taken to move through the affected section during the maintenance window.

The DMRC’s stated next step is to complete the track maintenance and restore normal two-way operations on the section by 6:30 am on Sunday.
