The Mysuru Dasara drone show has earned a Guinness World Record after 3,473 drones formed a peacock over the city’s landmark festival, according to a report by the Times of India. The achievement was highlighted by Karnataka Energy and Tourism Minister KJ George after he witnessed the Dasara procession and the drone performance.
Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited, the state-run power utility known as CESC, conducted the drone show as part of this year’s Dasara celebrations. CESC managing director MS Archana said the special illuminations and the drone show had been conducted successfully.
The record-setting formation depicted a peacock, an image closely associated with the visual identity of Mysuru Dasara. The display used 3,473 drones, making the event a large-scale coordinated public spectacle involving aerial technology, festival programming and the city’s electricity utility.
George commended the Energy Department and CESC for their role in the event. After watching the procession and drone performance, he said the initiative had helped elevate Dasara’s global profile and presented the festival’s splendour more effectively on the world stage.
The announcement adds a technology-led attraction to Mysuru Dasara, one of Karnataka’s major public festivals. The event combines the traditional procession and city-wide illumination programme with a large aerial display, bringing together tourism promotion and the operational capabilities of a public electricity corporation.
CESC’s involvement also places the utility at the centre of a high-visibility civic event beyond its routine electricity-supply responsibilities. The report, however, does not provide details on the drone-show location, the duration of the performance, the record’s verification process or the technical arrangements used to coordinate the 3,473 drones.
The special Dasara illuminations will continue through October 31, Archana said. Further details on the illumination programme and any additional public events were not provided in the report.
