Work on the KBR Park flyover and junction improvements in Hyderabad is being accelerated after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation ordered faster execution of measures intended to enable one-way traffic movement around the park.
The instructions cover the KBR Park main entrance, the Agrasen statue junction and the Jubilee Hills checkpost. GHMC officials are also undertaking changes at traffic islands near Filmnagar and Road No. 45, where the junctions differ in size and will need to be reorganised to help vehicles change lanes safely.
GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan inspected the proposed 4.3-kilometre elevated corridor from the Jubilee Hills checkpost to the NFCL junction along with civic officials on Thursday, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle. The inspection reviewed the progress of foundation excavations and the junction improvement works linked to the corridor.
The project is being executed at a reported cost of ₹1,090 crore. During the inspection, the executing agency was instructed to immediately begin geotechnical investigations for foundation design on the stretch between Mugdha junction and the NFCL junction.
Geotechnical investigations are used to assess ground conditions before foundations are designed and constructed. For an elevated road, this work is necessary to determine how structural supports can be placed along the alignment. The report did not specify the expected completion date for the investigations, the flyover or the junction works.
The road changes around KBR Park are intended to support a one-way traffic arrangement rather than merely add an elevated structure. This includes modifications to the Agrasen statue junction, traffic islands near Filmnagar and the junction at Road No. 45. The stated objective is to create safer lane transitions and accommodate traffic movement through junctions that currently have uneven layouts.
The corridor’s proposed alignment connects the Jubilee Hills checkpost with the NFCL junction, placing the project within a busy road network serving Jubilee Hills and surrounding parts of Hyderabad. The works combine elevated-corridor construction with surface-level junction redesign, meaning traffic operations will depend on progress at both levels.
The latest inspection indicates that foundation-related work and junction improvements are proceeding together. The GHMC has directed the executing agency to speed up the current works and begin the required ground investigations on the Mugdha junction–NFCL junction section immediately. Further implementation milestones were not specified in the report.
