Delhi Weather Tomorrow: Light Rain Likely as South Braces for Heavy Showers

Delhi weather tomorrow is likely to remain partly cloudy, with brief spells of rain and lightning possible as the India Meteorological Department forecasts unsettled conditions across several parts of north and south India. The capital’s maximum temperature is expected to dip to 32°C on October 9, with temperatures likely to remain between 32°C and 33°C on October 10 and 11.

The forecast does not include a warning of heavy rainfall for Delhi. However, residents may see scattered showers and lightning over the coming days. The conditions could affect morning and evening travel, outdoor activity and local drainage in areas that receive short, intense spells of rain.

Parts of Uttar Pradesh are also expected to receive scattered rainfall, with Lucknow among the cities likely to see showers. Rainfall in the state is forecast to remain lighter than in parts of southern India. Delhi, Patna and Lucknow are among the north Indian cities identified as possible locations for scattered showers.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for eight Uttarakhand districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri Garhwal, Almora, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar. Moderate rainfall is forecast in these districts over the next four days, with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph possible. Light to moderate rain may occur in other parts of Uttarakhand over the next five days, while snowfall is possible at elevations above 4,200 metres.

The change in Uttarakhand’s weather follows the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the state last Saturday. A western disturbance is now influencing weather conditions, according to the report. Himachal Pradesh is likely to see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, with rain expected through October 11. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh may also experience thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and rain.

Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are expected to remain unsettled, with thunderstorms, gusty winds and rain possible through Sunday. These conditions can create short-term risks for road users, pedestrians and outdoor workers, particularly during lightning and periods of reduced visibility.

In southern India, rainfall is likely to continue across coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, south interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are expected to receive heavy rain, while several other areas may see scattered showers.

The southwest monsoon is continuing its withdrawal from parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Telangana, marking a gradual transition towards the post-monsoon season. Despite the retreat, rainfall activity is expected to continue across multiple regions, with heavier spells in parts of the south and scattered rain and thunderstorms in sections of north India.

The IMD’s latest forecast indicates that unsettled weather will persist across parts of the north, east and south over the coming days. Delhi’s immediate forecast remains below heavy-rain warning levels, while authorities and residents in the yellow-alert districts of Uttarakhand will need to monitor further updates on rainfall, lightning and gusty winds.
