Delhi ASHA Workers Get 100% Honorarium Hike to Rs 6,000

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that the monthly honorarium for ASHA workers will be doubled from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000, marking a major increase for the community health workers who connect households with public health services across the city. The announcement was made at the state-level ASHA Conference-2026 and ASHA Samman Samaroh at Thyagaraj Stadium on Tuesday.

The increase was announced under the Delhi government’s ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar were also present at the event, where ASHA workers were recognised for their work and outstanding performers were felicitated.

ASHA workers serve as a frontline link between families and the public health system. According to the statements reported at the event, they help take health services and government schemes to households. The Lieutenant Governor described them as an important part of health-service delivery and said the increase from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 reflected recognition of their contribution and commitment.

The Health Minister said the government had addressed the ASHA workers’ pending demand for higher incentive payments. The announcement, however, did not specify when the revised honorarium would begin, the total number of workers covered, or the budgetary allocation required for the increase.

The conference also included announcements connected to Delhi’s wider public-health administration. The State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation building at GB Pant Hospital was inaugurated virtually. The government also announced the expansion of Mission Anmol, or Advanced Newborn Monitoring and Optimal Life Care, and launched a Nursing Home Management System portal.

Under Mission Anmol, screening for 63 types of congenital health conditions is being carried out within 24 to 72 hours of birth, according to the Health Minister. The expansion announced at the conference is intended to extend the reach of this newborn-monitoring programme, although the event details did not provide a target for the number of facilities or newborns to be covered.

The organ and tissue transplant initiative was accompanied by an appeal from the Chief Minister for greater awareness of organ and body donation. Gupta described organ donation as a symbol of humanity, compassion and respect for life, and urged Delhi residents to participate in awareness efforts.

The programme also included a pledge to organise a special dandiya event for ASHA workers during the upcoming Navratri celebrations. The government did not provide further operational details about the event. The immediate implementation schedule for the revised honorarium and the administrative process for disbursing the increased amount remain to be announced.
