Bengaluru’s Ejipura flyover is set to miss its October-end completion deadline, with the Greater Bengaluru Authority internally shifting the target to December-end, according to a report by Deccan Herald. The revised deadline may also be difficult to meet, while the project’s entry and exit ramps on Sarjapur Road are expected to be completed only next year.
The delay extends the uncertainty around one of Bengaluru’s long-delayed road projects. The proposed ramps are located near the Koramangala water tank on Sarjapur Road and form part of the access arrangements for the flyover. Their delayed completion means that even the main structure’s progress may not immediately translate into full operational access for road users.
The project’s work has slowed in recent months because of a shortage of stone aggregates, the report said. The material constraint has affected construction activity and contributed to the project falling behind the October-end schedule.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority has internally set December-end as the latest target for completing the flyover, but the report indicated that meeting this deadline could remain difficult. No new formal public completion date or detailed recovery schedule was cited in the report.
The separate timeline for the Sarjapur Road ramps is significant for commuters because these structures are required to connect the flyover to the surrounding road network. According to the report, the ramps are likely to be ready only next year, extending construction-related disruption around the Koramangala and Sarjapur Road area.
The latest delay highlights the execution challenges facing large urban road projects in Bengaluru, where completion depends not only on the main structure but also on ramps, access roads and the availability of construction materials. The next milestone is whether the Greater Bengaluru Authority can complete the flyover by its internal December-end target and clarify the schedule for the Sarjapur Road ramps.
