Konaseema tourism infrastructure could receive a major push along Andhra Pradesh’s coast if the state government acts on a proposal to develop natural tourism sites between Chollangi Revu and Antarvedi ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027.
D.N. Ramesh, convener of the Temples Protection Samithi, submitted a representation to Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh seeking visitor facilities across the coastal stretch in Konaseema district. The proposal includes restoring bathing ghats and creating the infrastructure required by devotees and tourists expected to visit the region during the religious event.
According to the representation, the area combines historical and spiritual significance with river confluences, mangrove forests and islands. The proposed tourism zone extends from Chollangi Revu to Antarvedi, covering a landscape where coastal, riverine and ecological features are closely connected.
Ramesh urged the government to develop facilities that would allow visitors to access and experience these locations. He specifically suggested introducing tourist boats to showcase the coastline and the distinctive features of the mangrove forests. The proposal identifies water-based tourism as a way to connect visitors with the region’s natural environment.
The representation also called for Hope Island to be developed as a major tourism hub. The naturally formed island lies off the coast and was highlighted as a key destination within the proposed tourism network. Ramesh asked the government to examine tourism facilities based on air travel as an additional option alongside boat services along the coast.
The request comes ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027, for which the representation says the necessary infrastructure should be in place before the event. The proposal does not announce government approval, funding, construction timelines or an implementing agency for the suggested works. It instead seeks action from the Tourism Department on facilities for pilgrims and tourists.
