Gulmohar City Residents Call for Drainage Overhaul

Pune: Residents of Gulmohar City Society in Kharadi have issued a formal plea to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to urgently address a severe drainage issue that has led to widespread flooding within their community. Overflowing drainage water from adjacent areas has inundated the society, resulting in extensive property damage and raising significant health concerns, particularly for the elderly and young children.

The flooding has rendered daily living conditions nearly unbearable, with water accumulation affecting streets and parking areas. In their letter to the PMC, the residents have called for an immediate inspection of the drainage infrastructure to pinpoint the causes of the overflow, clear any blockages, and implement a permanent resolution to prevent future incidents.

The residents had previously sought assistance from the Additional Commissioner, who visited the site and instructed the PMC to expedite the necessary repairs. According to the Secretary of the Kharadi Welfare Housing Association, the property damage has been substantial, affecting both residential properties and vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers. The urgency of the situation has prompted calls for swift action from the PMC to mitigate further damage. The ongoing drainage issues have exacerbated the living conditions within the society, with many residents expressing frustration over the lack of timely intervention. The residents are now demanding that the PMC prioritise their concerns and address the drainage problems with immediate effect to restore normalcy and prevent recurrence of such flooding.
