The Kochi Water Metro is poised to expand its services with the introduction of a new route to Mattancherry, slated for launch in October. A new terminal, currently under construction near Mattancherry Corporation Park, is set to be completed by the time the new service begins. The previous lack of service to Mattancherry was due to issues with silt accumulation at the existing State Water Transport Department jetty, which impeded access. In addition to the new terminal, the Water Metro will also introduce three new boats to its fleet.
