Free MRI scans in Hyderabad will be available to genuinely deserving patients from economically disadvantaged backgrounds under an initiative announced by Aarthi Scans and Labs at its Kondapur centre.
Patients seeking the facility must provide one of three forms of referral: a referral note from a doctor at a government medical college hospital, a letter from an NGO confirming that the scan is required, or a referral from an Aarthi Scans and Labs employee.
The initiative is aimed at patients who may otherwise be unable to afford MRI testing. The announcement did not specify the number of scans that will be offered, the duration of the programme, or whether patients must complete an appointment process before visiting the centre.
Dr Prasannaa Vignesh, executive director and radiologist at Aarthi Scans and Labs, said the initiative was intended to remove the cost barrier for patients who genuinely require an MRI scan.
MRI scans are used by doctors to examine internal structures in the body and support diagnosis across a range of medical conditions. For patients referred through government hospitals or NGOs, access to the test can depend not only on clinical need but also on the ability to meet diagnostic costs and secure an appointment.
Under the announced arrangement, the referral requirement will serve as the eligibility route for patients seeking a free scan at the Kondapur facility. Patients and referring institutions will need to confirm the process and availability directly with Aarthi Scans and Labs before visiting the centre.
