Amazon India is expanding its operations network with 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres and 150 last-mile delivery stations ahead of the upcoming festive season, increasing the company’s storage capacity in the country by 50 per cent to 64 million cubic feet.
The expansion is part of Amazon’s announced investment of more than ₹2,800 crore to strengthen its pan-India operations and infrastructure, the company said in a statement. The new facilities are expected to support the anticipated increase in consumer demand during the festive period.
The six new sort centres are located in Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Meerut, Ramanagar, Raipur and Varanasi. Seven of the 20 new fulfilment centres are also being established in non-metro cities, indicating that the latest capacity additions are spread beyond India’s largest urban markets.
The facilities will be operated and managed by third-party logistics service providers, according to Amazon. The company did not provide a city-wise list of all 20 fulfilment centres in the statement.
Amazon is also adding 150 last-mile delivery stations across 118 cities. Twelve of these locations—including Bhojpur, Bokajan, Jalaun, Jehanabad, Namsai, Puruliya, Ribhoi, Senapati, Sivasagar, Udalguri, Ukhrul and Wokha—will receive their first Amazon last-mile delivery station.
Last-mile delivery stations are the final operational link between an e-commerce network and customers. Their expansion will extend Amazon’s delivery infrastructure into additional districts and smaller urban centres, including locations that previously did not have an Amazon station.
The company had earlier announced more than 1.6 lakh seasonal work opportunities across 400 cities for the festive period. These opportunities will cover metropolitan areas as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations. Amazon said the roles would support its seasonal operations as demand rises.
The latest expansion brings together additional storage, parcel sorting and local delivery capacity. Fulfilment centres handle the storage and processing of orders, sort centres organise shipments for onward movement, and last-mile stations support local delivery operations.

Amazon’s announcement comes as e-commerce companies prepare for higher order volumes during India’s festive shopping period. The company said its new facilities are operational and ready to serve customers, while the seasonal employment opportunities span 400 cities.
