Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has ordered the repair of major roads in the Yerwada area within 15 days after conducting an on-site review of pending infrastructure works, missing links, land acquisition and sanitation projects.
The inspection comes after elected representatives raised concerns at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s general body meeting over development works remaining incomplete despite repeated directions to the civic administration. Members also expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of municipal officials and questioned the delay in addressing stalled projects across the city.
Ram has now begun visiting different ward offices to review the status of local development works. The Yerwada Regional Office area was among the locations reviewed on Saturday, with the commissioner examining both ongoing and proposed projects in the jurisdiction.
The review covered road repairs and maintenance, missing road links considered important for traffic movement, land acquisition required for infrastructure projects and basic facilities needed by residents. The commissioner directed the concerned officials to complete repairs on major roads in the area within the 15-day deadline, according to the report published by Loksatta.
The inspection also places attention on the administrative process behind delayed civic works. Road projects and missing links can depend on multiple municipal departments, while land acquisition may require separate action before construction can proceed. Municipal officials accompanying the commissioner included Deputy Commissioner Asha Raut, Solid Waste Management Deputy Commissioner Santosh Warule and Roads Department Superintendent Engineer Rohidas Gavhane. Their presence reflected the cross-departmental nature of the issues examined during the field visit, which included roads, sanitation and other local infrastructure requirements.
The inspection follows repeated complaints from municipal representatives that development works in several parts of Pune have been held up and that the administration has not responded adequately.
