Subheadline: Services on all Delhi Metro corridors will begin an hour earlier than usual to help students and commuters navigate traffic restrictions in the city.
Delhi Metro services will begin at 6 am on Sunday, September 13, across all corridors to facilitate travel for students appearing for examinations and other commuters during traffic restrictions linked to the BRICS Summit, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said on Friday.
The early start will apply across the network. On Sundays, services on the Pink, Magenta and Grey lines normally begin at 7 am, while the revised schedule will bring the start of services on those corridors forward by one hour.
The DMRC announced the change in a post on X, saying the measure was intended to support the “smooth and timely movement” of examination candidates and the general public during the summit-related restrictions.
The corporation said the revised timing would help passengers reach examination centres and other destinations while parts of the city face traffic controls. Students and other passengers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
The announcement comes as movement restrictions associated with the BRICS Summit are expected to affect road travel in parts of Delhi. The DMRC did not provide details in the statement about changes to train frequency, station closures or restrictions on specific corridors.
Passengers using the Metro on Sunday will therefore need to account for the revised 6 am commencement time and check their journey plans before leaving. The early service is intended to provide an alternative to road travel during the period of summit-related traffic management.
