Rainfall activity is expected to continue across Delhi for the next two days, while the India Meteorological Department has forecast heavier rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in parts of Rajasthan, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh over the coming days.
The forecast indicates that Delhi may continue to receive rainfall through September 13. The report did not specify rainfall totals or identify particular parts of the capital expected to receive the heaviest showers.
In Rajasthan, clouds may build over Jaipur and nearby areas during the afternoon of September 12, with thunderstorms and rain possible at some locations. The IMD forecast suggests that rainfall will not be uniform across the entire district or division.
Rainfall activity is expected to increase across parts of the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Ajmer and Udaipur divisions between September 12 and 16. Districts including Alwar, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Bundi, Baran, Jhalawar, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Banswara, Dungarpur and Rajsamand may receive light to moderate rain during this period.
The Kota-Hadoti region, covering Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar, is likely to see increased rainfall activity on September 13 and 14. Moderate to heavy rain may occur at isolated locations in the Udaipur division and parts of southern Rajasthan.
According to the IMD, a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. The system is expected to increase moisture over eastern Rajasthan. Strengthening easterly winds around September 12 may also support rainfall activity in the region.
The weather agency has also reported a cyclonic circulation over northwestern Uttar Pradesh extending to about 3.1 kilometres above sea level. A trough stretches from northern Haryana towards the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal through Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, while the monsoon trough is also extending towards the Bay of Bengal.
Odisha is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next couple of days. The IMD has issued yellow warnings for several districts until September 13. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty surface winds of up to 30-40 kmph may accompany the rainfall across the state.
Parts of Andhra Pradesh may experience strong surface winds of up to 60 kmph until September 14. The forecast places the affected regions under varying levels of rain, thunderstorm and wind activity as the weather systems move across the country.
The IMD’s latest outlook calls for continued rain in Delhi, increasing rainfall in parts of Rajasthan from September 12, heavy to very heavy rain in Odisha and strong winds in parts of Andhra Pradesh through September 14.
