Konkan Jetty Fund: Maharashtra Allocates Rs 170 Crore for 104 Works

Konkan jetty fund works across Mumbai and the Konkan region have received a Rs 170 crore allocation from the Maharashtra government, covering 104 projects involving jetties, approach roads, protective walls, erosion-control structures, dredging and passenger facilities, Loksatta reported on September 11, 2026.

The funding is divided between 75 works estimated at Rs 126 crore and 29 projects involving roads, railway links and backwater development, for which Rs 44 crore has been provided. The projects are spread across Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.

The allocation is linked to the Maharashtra Maritime Board’s scheme for providing grants, floating jetties and related passenger facilities. Under the scheme, 75 works have received an overall approval of Rs 577.53 crore. By the end of March 2026, Rs 133.92 crore had been distributed for these works, while a further Rs 126 crore has been provided in the 2026-27 allocation, according to the report.

Projects in the Mumbai region include a protective wall at Colaba-Gitanganar, works at Khar-Danda and the Belapur passenger jetty. The package also includes jetty and approach-road works in Dombivli, Uttan and the Thane area. Work in Colaba has been completed, while 40 per cent of the work in Belapur remains pending.

In Palghar district, the funded works include jetties and passenger facilities at Vasai Fort, Naigaon, Vasai Ro-Ro jetty, Narangi and the Arnala Fort area. The heightening work at Naigaon Benkar jetty has been completed, the report said.

The wider package also covers coastal structures and access infrastructure intended to connect jetties with roads, railways and backwater areas. The reported allocation therefore includes both direct passenger facilities and supporting works that enable access to coastal transport points.

The Maharashtra government’s next implementation milestone is the execution of the approved works during the 2026-27 financial year. The supplied report does not provide project-wise completion dates or details of the agencies and contractors responsible for each remaining work.
