Panvel Municipal Corporation has begun organising health checkup camps at approximately 43 locations across its jurisdiction, offering residents access to specialist consultations between September 10 and November 2, 2026.
The initiative is being conducted under the Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Lok Kalyankari Yojana following directions from Mayor Nitin Patil. The civic body said the camps are intended to improve access to timely health assessments and specialist medical advice, particularly for residents in rural areas under its jurisdiction.
A camp was held at the Zilla Parishad school in Phanaswadi on Thursday. It was inaugurated by Madhu Patil, chairperson of Ward Committee B, and attended by residents who underwent health checkups. The camps are being conducted across all four wards of the municipal corporation.
Residents can receive consultations in gynaecology and obstetrics, ear, nose and throat care, general medicine, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, psychiatry, paediatrics and dermatology. Primary health assessments will be carried out at the camps, with residents directed towards further treatment where required, according to the civic body.
The programme is being conducted under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, Chief Medical Officer Dr Anand Gosavi, Tuberculosis Officer Dr Usha Rathod, Maternal and Child Health Officer Dr Ganesh Nair, and medical officers Dr Suresh Pandit and Dr Bhaktaraaj Bhoite, along with other civic officials and staff.
The Panvel civic body has appealed to residents to attend the camp organised in their respective areas and undergo timely health checkups. The initiative comes as Maharashtra’s Public Health Department is also working on a proposed 28-day residential Skill Lab programme aimed at providing practical training to healthcare workers through skill laboratories and district hospitals.
