Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed Revenue officials to create a Common Land Bank Portal listing government-owned land across the state, with the aim of making parcels available for public, industrial and development projects. The direction was issued at the 8th District Collectors’ Conference in Amaravati on September 10, 2026.
Naidu asked officials to identify government land that has remained unused for years and upload its details to the proposed portal. The information is to be organised by department and district, creating a consolidated record of land held by different government agencies.
According to the directions issued at the conference, the portal should allow government departments to identify and allocate suitable land when required. Naidu also called for land needed for industrial and development projects to be identified in advance, rather than searched for only after a project receives formal approval.
The Chief Minister said a clearer picture of the state’s government land would emerge after completion of the ongoing resurvey. The proposed database is expected to incorporate information from the resurvey as well as records held by individual departments and district administrations.
The land bank initiative forms part of a wider set of directions issued to district collectors on project coordination and implementation. Naidu instructed departments and collectors to prepare calendars with specified deadlines and said the conference should focus on measurable results rather than discussions alone.
He asked collectors, as heads of their respective districts, to monitor development programmes across departments and resolve coordination-related issues. The Chief Minister also called for quicker decisions aimed at solving administrative problems instead of transferring responsibility between departments.
The conference also covered housing, skill development, water supply, environmental measures and welfare implementation. Naidu directed officials to link skill-development programmes with industry requirements and complete associated curriculum, equipment and other preparations within 90 days. He also asked officials to expedite the construction of already sanctioned houses and implement additional sanctioned housing in phases.
In response to prevailing El Niño conditions, officials were directed to speed up emergency drinking-water works across Andhra Pradesh. Naidu also called for preparations ahead of the plantation season, including keeping 20 crore seeds and saplings ready, promoting less water-intensive plant varieties and prioritising water conservation works.
The Chief Minister further directed officials to pursue the establishment of 905 smart kitchens across the state with the Union government. He also ordered the immediate issuance of directions to extend benefits available to Scheduled Castes to the Budaga Jangam community while the question of granting the community formal Scheduled Caste status remains pending.
The state government’s next steps on the land bank will include identifying unused departmental land, organising records by district and department, and setting implementation deadlines through the collectors’ administration.
