Tata Mumbai Marathon 2027 Registration Opens Ahead of January Race

Registration for the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2027 Dream Run opened in Mumbai on Tuesday, with the 22nd edition of the city’s flagship road race scheduled for January 17, 2027. The registration launch took place at Sahyadri State Guest House in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar.

The event was announced as part of preparations for the next Tata Mumbai Marathon, which has been held in the city since 2004. According to the report, the race has attracted runners from India and abroad over more than two decades and has encouraged public participation in fitness and active lifestyles.

Pawar described the marathon as an event that has grown beyond a sporting competition. She said it had become part of Mumbai’s identity and Maharashtra’s sporting culture, while also bringing together sport, social commitment and public participation.

The report said the marathon was initially conceived as an initiative involving the administration, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the police. That institutional coordination remains central to the event because a large road race requires arrangements across public roads, civic services, policing and crowd management. Specific traffic diversions, the race route and operational arrangements for the 2027 edition were not provided in the announcement.

The 2027 race will be the event’s 22nd edition. Organisers and public officials presented the long-running competition as a platform that connects Mumbai with international sporting audiences. The event has also been associated with the city’s public image, drawing attention to its streets, neighbourhoods and civic infrastructure during race-day operations.

Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said the Tata Mumbai Marathon had helped place Mumbai on the global sporting map. He also described it as an activity that connects the city and reflects its energy and enthusiasm.

The launch concerns registration for the 2027 Dream Run, while the main Tata Mumbai Marathon is scheduled for January 17. The announcement did not specify the registration closing date, participation categories, fees, eligibility requirements or the number of places available. It also did not disclose whether any changes to the route or race-day arrangements are planned.

Further details on registration, race categories, route planning and civic arrangements will be required as the January event approaches. The marathon’s organisers, municipal authorities and police will be responsible for communicating those details ahead of race day.
