CIDCO Housing Scheme Draws 4,180 Applications for 4,793 Homes

CIDCO has received 4,180 applications for 4,793 homes reserved for economically weaker section (EWS) applicants in Taloja, Kharghar and Kalamboli, with the final lottery list scheduled to be published on September 10.

The housing scheme was announced on August 15 and its registration process closed on September 3, according to information released by CIDCO and reported by Loksatta. The development corporation said the response reflected demand for affordable housing in Navi Mumbai’s planned nodes.

A draft list of applicants was published on the CIDCO Homes website on September 4. Applicants can submit objections to the draft list until September 8. CIDCO has said the final list for the lottery will be published on September 10, after which details of the draw process and subsequent steps will be made available on its official website.

The 4,793 homes are located in Taloja, Kharghar and Kalamboli, areas where infrastructure and connectivity expansion is under way. CIDCO said the homes would provide eligible EWS applicants an opportunity to purchase housing at affordable rates in planned urban areas.

Eligible beneficiaries may also receive assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), subject to the scheme’s guidelines and eligibility criteria. CIDCO said the subsidy, available until September, could make home purchase more accessible for qualifying applicants.

The application figures indicate that the number of submissions is lower than the number of homes offered in the scheme. However, eligibility verification, objections and preparation of the final list will determine which applicants proceed to the lottery stage. The published figures do not by themselves establish how many applications will ultimately qualify.

Ashwin Mudgal, CIDCO’s vice-president and managing director, said the response represented citizens’ aspiration to own homes in Navi Mumbai and their confidence in CIDCO’s planned development. He said the corporation remained committed to providing affordable and quality housing alongside expanding infrastructure and connectivity.

Applicants have been directed to consult the CIDCO Homes website for the draft list, objection process, final lottery list and information on the next stages of the scheme. The final list is scheduled for publication on September 10.
