Bengaluru | September 7, 2026 — The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) Department has issued a notice to the food business operator at the Vivekanagar Hockey Club kitchen after finding expired products, pest infestation and unhygienic conditions during an inspection on Saturday.
The inspection at the Bengaluru facility found 40 bottles of expired soft drinks, along with soda bottles whose labels did not conform to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) requirements. Officials also identified lapses in food storage and handling, according to the department.
The FDA seized the expired and improperly labelled products during the inspection. The department also reported that pests had infested food at the kitchen, adding to the violations recorded during the visit.
A notice was issued to the food business operator following the inspection. The action relates to alleged violations under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and applicable food safety regulations.
The inspection comes as part of the department’s regulatory enforcement responsibilities over food businesses operating in Bengaluru. The findings recorded at the hockey club kitchen include product expiry, labelling compliance and storage and handling practices.
