Pune Electric Motor Expo Brings Supply Chains Together
Pune is set to host the India Electric Motor Expo 2026 from October 15 to 17 at the Auto Cluster Exhibition Center in Pimpri-Chinchwad, bringing manufacturers, suppliers and engineering professionals together around a technology central to electric mobility and industrial efficiency. The event comes as Indian industry faces growing pressure to reduce energy use while building domestic capabilities across increasingly complex manufacturing supply chains.
The three-day exhibition is expected to cover electric motors used across electric vehicles, industrial machinery, automation, appliances and heating and cooling systems. Organisers expect more than 8,000 trade visitors, including procurement professionals, plant managers and design engineers. A key feature will be the breadth of the manufacturing chain represented at the event. Displays are expected to include traction motors and integrated e-axles for electric vehicles, alongside high-efficiency industrial motors meeting IE4 and IE5 efficiency classifications. BLDC and digitally enabled motors will also feature, reflecting the expanding use of electronically controlled motors in appliances and building systems. The focus on efficiency has wider implications for cities and industry. Electric motors account for a substantial share of electricity consumption in industrial systems, making improvements in motor efficiency relevant not only to manufacturers but also to India’s wider energy transition. More efficient equipment can reduce operating costs and electricity demand over its working life.
The Pune electric motor expo will also examine components and production technologies that sit behind finished products. These are expected to include winding machinery, electrical steel stampings, copper winding wire, bearings and insulation materials. Bringing these segments together provides an opportunity to examine where domestic manufacturing capacity remains strong and where greater technology or sourcing capability may be required. Indian companies from the engineering and automotive ecosystem are expected to participate alongside international manufacturers from markets including Germany and China. For Pune, the event adds another layer to the region’s established manufacturing base, particularly across the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt.
However, the longer-term significance of the Pune electric motor expo will depend less on exhibition footfall and more on whether such industry interactions lead to stronger supplier networks, technology transfer and investment in efficient production. India’s electric mobility transition requires more than vehicle assembly; it also depends on motors, power electronics, materials and precision components being available at competitive scale. The co-location of the exhibition with an automotive electronics and testing event could further connect motor manufacturers with the broader vehicle technology ecosystem. As electrification and factory automation advance, Pune’s manufacturing advantage will increasingly depend on how effectively industrial growth is matched with energy efficiency, skilled employment and resilient supply chains.
