Hyderabad Plans Statewide Skill Development Expansion
HYDERABAD: Telangana is planning to expand its skill development initiatives across the State to prepare young people for changing industry requirements and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the government is working with industries, entrepreneurs, research institutions and educational organisations to strengthen Telangana’s skilling ecosystem and build a future-ready workforce. Speaking at a certificate distribution programme organised by Boeing, Learning Links Foundation and the Central Institute of Tool Design in Hyderabad, the Minister highlighted the need for closer cooperation between industry and educational institutions. The government is focusing on providing Telangana’s youth with skills that match evolving industry needs. The Minister said industries should actively participate in government-led skilling, upskilling and reskilling programmes.
The objective is to help young people access emerging employment opportunities while ensuring that companies have access to a workforce equipped with relevant and modern skills. Certificates were distributed to youth, persons with disabilities and veterans who successfully completed the Boeing Skilling Programme. The Young India Skills University is providing training programmes aligned with industry requirements, according to the Minister’s office. The State is also transforming government Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres. The initiative aims to provide modern, industry-oriented training and help students develop skills relevant to emerging technologies.
Rapid technological advancements and the growing use of AI are changing the skills required across industries. Telangana’s planned expansion of skill development programmes is aimed at helping its workforce adapt to these changes. Greater participation from industries and entrepreneurs could further strengthen the State’s skilling ecosystem and create more opportunities for youth. The initiative reflects Telangana’s broader focus on building an industry-ready and future-focused workforce through stronger partnerships between the government, educational institutions and businesses.
