This alert signifies the potential for substantial rainfall in these regions, urging residents to exercise caution amidst possible waterlogging scenarios. According to IMD Chief Sunil Kamble, moderate rain showers are expected to persist throughout the week, maintaining a cloudy sky pattern over Mumbai and its suburbs. Maximum temperatures are anticipated to reach approximately 32°C, while minimum temperatures are forecasted to hover around 25°C in the next 24 hours.
The weather forecast remains consistent, with IMD predicting a continuation of moderate rainfall and a generally overcast sky for the next 48 hours. There is a possibility of isolated heavy showers in some areas, necessitating heightened vigilance from local authorities and residents. The regional weather observations from Monday revealed varied precipitation and temperature patterns across Maharashtra. Mahabaleshwar recorded the highest rainfall at 23 mm, while Dahanu registered a maximum temperature of 33.7°C, indicating a departure from normal temperatures by 2.7°C above average.
Minimum temperatures ranged from 17.1°C in Mahabaleshwar to 25.0°C in Thane, with relative humidity peaking at 100% in Ahmednagar and Mahabaleshwar. Rainfall data exhibited significant variability, with Ratnagiri receiving 21 mm and Thane reporting 13.2 mm during the observed period. In preparation for anticipated weather conditions, the IMD has escalated alerts, including an orange alert for Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri on July 12, and extending to Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara on July 13 and 14. These alerts highlight the potential for intensified rainfall, necessitating proactive measures to mitigate flood risks and ensure public safety.
