Ahead of the Onam festival season, additional railway services connecting Chennai with Kerala destinations are set to improve passenger mobility during one of the busiest travel periods of the year. The special trains will operate between Chennai Central and Kollam, along with a weekly connection between Thiruvananthapuram North and Mangaluru Junction. Advance reservations for these services will open from July 11, allowing passengers to plan journeys ahead of the festival period, which typically witnesses a sharp increase in inter-state movement. The Chennai–Kollam service will run multiple times a week between August 13 and September 5, while the Thiruvananthapuram North–Mangaluru service will operate weekly from August 12 to September 2.
