Kochi’s Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) has ushered in a new era of passenger convenience and operational efficiency with the launch of a cutting-edge self-baggage drop facility at its domestic terminal (T1). This initiative aims to streamline the check-in process by allowing passengers to independently deposit their check-in bags onto conveyors, eliminating the need for airline personnel assistance.
According to a recent press release from Cial, approximately 95% of outbound passengers in the domestic sector, predominantly flying with airlines such as Air Asia, Indigo, and Air India, can now benefit from this facility. Passengers can obtain their boarding pass and bag tag printouts from the Common Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks strategically positioned across terminal gates. After affixing the bag tag, they proceed to the designated self-bag drop points located at check-in counters 27 to 30.
The self-baggage drop systems, integrated seamlessly with Cial’s advanced baggage handling infrastructure, have been installed to enhance operational efficiency and elevate passenger experience. These systems, imported from Canada, signify Cial’s commitment to leveraging state-of-the-art technology for every facet of the travel journey, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free experience for travellers.
